Dress Code Clarification…

October 29, 2012

See the attached memo issued October 24. (Click Here)

It  has  been  noted  that  some  interpretations  of  ‘properly  dressed’    has  been  falling  below  what  is expected  by fellow officials, coaches, players and parents.  The Zone’s Rules and Regulations define what is expected in the way of dress code of officials arriving to the rink to officiate hockey games.

At  a  recent  Zone  executive  meeting,  this  was  discussed  and  agreed  to  that  the  officials  should  be arriving at the rink dressed to the same standard as the players themselves.  Since visiting teams often wear track suits, etc, the executive felt it necessary to issue this clarification:

  • For all AAA and Junior B dress code:  Shirt and tie, or blouse for females.  No jeans. No hats except winter wear.
  • For all AA hockey and Junior A Female, dress code will be ‘Business Casual’  – ie. collared shirt, or blouse for females.  No jeans. No hats except winter wear.

No standard has been defined for CAHL, Spud League or house league hockey but it is expected that officials always present themselves as professionally as possible, regardless of the level of hockey.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact a Zone executive member.
